Dwizen Konwar was born in 1961 at Baruazani village near Kamalpur in present Kamrup (rural) district which was old undivided Kamrup at that time. His father Late Khagendra Narayan Konwar was a freedom fighter and a noted social worker of the area, he worked in the Civil Defence department of Government of Assam. His mother’s name is Mrs Sita Prabha Konwar. Their family has Assamese royal lineage having descended from the great King of ancient Kamrup, Naranarayan of Kos (কোচ) dynasty.
He did his initial schooling from Baruazani ME School and later completed Matriculation from Borka Satgaon High School. He graduated in Commerce stream from Guwahati Commerce College having a BCom degree.
He was into singing both folk and modern right from his childhood and won many prizes in school and college. Since 1981 he was singing in Yuva Bani programme of All India Radio, Guwahati and as a regular artist there since 1987. In 2009 he got B High Grade as singer with All India Radio. Apart from being a singer he is also a lyricist and has been an approved lyricist of All India Radio since 2008.
He has made several Cassettes, CDs of his songs and has performed in stages in various platforms including Television. He gave music direction in the feature film “Azan Fakir Saheb আজান ফকীৰ চাহেব” and also sang in the playback. He had received “Sitra Lekha Award” and “Moonlight Media Award” for music direction.
He has the distinction of organising a children’s chorus of one thousand children drawn from schools all over Guwahati, at Chandmari field in 1991. The same feat was repeated in 1993 in Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee, with five thousand school children. The children sang two songs Zilikaaba Luitare Paar জিলিকাব লুইতৰে পাৰof Bhupen Hazarika and Tore More Aalokare Zaatraa তোৰে মোৰে আলোকৰে যত্ৰা of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.
As for his profession he worked with State Bank of India till January 2015, when he took retirement under Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). Except for a short stint with Tourism Department of Government of Assam, he had been with State Bank of India since 1981.
He got married to Mrs Sabita Konwar in 1994 and they have a daughter Hrishika, who is a student.
